As a thirty-something mother-of-two, my “girls night out” have evolved accordingly.   Less often are Saturday nights hitting the hot spots of downtown (sigh) and more often are civilized evenings with less need for Uber rides. But that doesn’t mean our GNO are any less fun or the company any less amazing.  If anything it has encouraged us to look for new and unique ways to spend our time together.  So when I stumbled across a facebook post for a Beers & Boards party thrown by Sticky Bottom Decals and More, I was intrigued.   A few group texts later and four of us were registered for the next event on February 8th at Southern Peak Brewery.

Heads up: The registration process is a bit confusing, especially if you’re unsure of exactly what you want to create, but each event tends to sell out quickly so don’t delay from registering.  Julie Tew, owner of Sticky Bottoms reaches out to each registrant about a week before the event to confirm your final product. You can choose from her existing stencil gallery or have her create a custom design for your board.  Cost for the event ranges from $40-$60, depending on the type and size of your board.

We arrived at Southern Peak Brewery in Apex (a 22 minute, traffic-free drive on 540 from N. Raleigh), ordered a
delicious beer, and found our respective boards.   Looks pretty foolproof, right?   We were joined by a mother-daughter duo (the daughter reps for LuLaRoe), as well as a second table of women consisting of three friends who met in Jazzercize in the 90s and another mother-daughter duo.  

Then it was time to start painting.  Which took more time and focus than I expected, but still allowed for plenty of conversation and fun chatting with these interesting ladies.

… and Voila! A Valentine’s Day gift, a personalized plaque for a new home, a house number for a rustic side porch, and a custom board for one family’s favorite spot.

We left happy and satisfied.
