When I agreed to meet friends for Breakfast Bingo at the Capital Crossing Chick-fil-A, I was agreeing more to delicious chicken minis and an early morning playdate than a love for bingo. I’m pretty open to any activity during the creeping month of August so while Breakfast Bingo at Chick-Fil-A was never on my list, I can report it should be on yours.
It was a full house of ages ranging from toddler to seniors– and surprisingly, all ages in between. The food line moved with the usual ease you expect from Chick-fil-A, and our food arrived at our table just as bingo cards were passed out. Then it was off to the races. For a full hour, we played round after round of bingo. Each winner was given the chance to spin the wheel for prizes (free food and swag). My 7-yr old won the “big” round and got to spin twice, which was the high of her day. The high of my day was this simple outing helped my Kindergartener with number recognition, offered strategy skills and confidence to my 2nd-grader, and enforced the grace of good sportsmanship (there were a lot of rounds we didn’t win).
Here’s what you need to know to make the most of your Breakfast Bingo experience:
*Arrive early to eat. The rounds move quickly and it’s difficult to eat while you play, especially for children.
*Numbers are called quickly. Make sure children know how to play beforehand, or be prepared to assist them until they get the hang of it.
*Don’t be shy to play multiple cards.
*Don’t clear your card until told to do so! Each round will have multiple winners.
*Sit near the bingo caller. You will hear better and be less distracted from carry-out customers.
*Be prepared to use whatever freebies you win immediately. This might mean a milkshake at 9:45am. All for the love of bingo.
Bottom Line: Grab some friends, enjoy some yummy food, and bring on the Bingo!
